Tessa Bailey’s ‘Heat Stroke’ is hands down the best book I’ve read so far in 2019, and that isn’t something that I say lightly. I’ll add to that the caveat that it’ll likely remain the best book I read in 2019, and even though I just devoured it in one sitting, I’m already gearing up to simply plop down and read it from start to finish all over again. It’s just that darn good.All gushing aside, and be prepared for more gushing since I simply cannot stop when it comes to this book, ‘Heat Stroke’ tells us the story of the middle Prince brother and the gym junkie Marcus that simply can’t seem to stay away from him, the reverse being true, even though the intellectually smart Jamie thinks he ought to know better. Their attraction is real, gritty, so evocative, and visceral. From being reminded of aspects of Jamie’s past, to Marcus needing to figure out who he is and what he wants from life, this book takes you on one heck of an emotional journey, one that had me equal parts laughing and sobbing as the narrative developed. I’m really not a crier when it comes to reading books or watching movies, but I had some tissues handy with this one, you know, just for the occasional sniffle.There is so much love in this book, and it manifests itself in so many forms. Tessa has done a simply amazing and stellar job of weaving it all together, showcasing the good, the bad, the ugly, and the glorious, with each word, each sentence, each paragraph, each chapter.If you haven’t already made Tessa Bailey a one-click author for you, do it now; you won’t regret it. ‘Mouth to Mouth’, the first book in the Beach Kingdom series was amazing, ‘Heat Stroke’ was phenomenal, which means that you know book three is going to be spectacular. Hop to it!
I am a huge fan of Tessa Bailey. She is my favorite romance author and her books never disappoint. She writes wonderful alpha heroes and strong, witty heroines. She is the QUEEN of dirty talk!! Out of all of her books, my favorite has always been her first (Protecting What’s His incase you are wondering). Until now…Jamie and Marcus are now my everything! I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down. 

Jamie is a economics teacher during the school year and works as a lifeguard and at his family’s bar during the summer. He works at both summer jobs with Marcus, who drives him crazy. Everywhere Jamie goes, Marcus is usually right there too. Jamie knows that Marcus is confused about why he likes to hang around Jamie so much, but after having gone down this road before, with terrible consequences for his family, he is reluctant to do it again. But the more Marcus hangs around him, the less Jamie can resist him.Heat Stroke is the second book in the Beach Kingdom series, read Mouth to Mouth if you want to start from the beginning!
I absolutely loved this book! The second in the series, Heat Stroke definitely packs the heat. Marcus was like a big lovable puppy you head over heels in loves with Jamie. Jamie's smart, sexy and confident and I loved his interactions with Marcus. Marcus reminded me of the heart eyes emoji whenever he was in the vicinity of Jamie. They are completely opposite of each other and it very much works because they compliment each other. The sexy times are insanely HOT and I'm pretty sure this book has jumped to the top of my Tessa list.
Beautiful writing, thrilling story, heartfelt emotions, and a couple everyone will be cheering for. Bailey has managed to write two developed characters who fit perfectly together, despite all of their differences. I could barely put my kindle down as I devoured this story. Incredibly hot, sweet, and heart breaking, this is a must read for m/m romance fans. This reads easily as a standalone, however I will definitely be reading book one, and I look forward to Andrew's story coming up next.
“I was going to say you can keep my heart in a cage. But the truth is, I think it was in a cage before. Before I let myself love you...â€â€¢I absolutely adored this book, y’all! This super fun, fast-paced MM romance is not to be missed. Who doesn’t want to read about lifeguards, am I right? Marcus and Jamie had so much heat and passion and fantastic banter, Heat Stroke got me out of a severe book funk. I cannot recommend this one enough!
It's like you come for a movie on Netflix for a good time and you get a fantastic story, wonderful cinematography and characters that stay with you. Some of Tessa's books may not reflect your favourite trope, but it's impossible not to like the heat, the story and the depth of feelings she so wonderfully portrays. It really feel like every new book she writes is better, brighter and more heart warming than the last.
This was my first M/M book and I was a little skeptical about reading it, however I have LOVED all of Tessa's books so I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! It was beautiful, heartbreaking, heartwarming and super HOT. Marcus was just a big ol' marshmallow and Jamie was the constant he needed. Absolutely loved it!
I loved Tessa Bailey’s second foray into M/M and Marcus is hands down one of the best hero’s she has ever written (Team Brent here!). His journey, along with Jamie’s, was special and sweet and I just cannot wait for book 3!!
