I received this item at a discount in exchange for an honest review. I read the reviews and was excited to make my purchased. Shipping was immediate, bought on a kindle direct to download. It is nice to have the ability to read it on screen - larger, as well as a kindle. Can read on a mobile phone too, but that is a little small for me.50 pages of content, written very simply and is easy to understand for even basic entry level people looking to get into fitness or build a regular regimne. Broken down into chapters, and then into sections - with an interactive table of contents at the begining so you can quickly jump to where you left off. Complete with all you would need to know to get started, as well as keep going and pushing yourself. Describes what to do and how to do it. Informs you of what the moves do for your body, without being too technical or anatomically in depth. Tells users how to achieve results if without needing weights or a gym membership. I really liked the section on pros and cons if you are shopping for equipment, machines and weights and how get started building a home gym type situation. It gives a rundown of a weekly workout, breakdown of the exercises and order, and what not to start with. Then it goes on about the foods you need to eat, the supplements which can help you (but also explains that they won’t do it all so don’t rely heavily on them- a great improvement from some other weighlifitng materials!!!). Discussed habits you may have setting you up for failure and tips to break them to build better habits. Even with all this, they provide additional resources for you to contunie learning and improvingm yourself.Definetly a good buy and a good read!
I have been strength training/weight lifting since I was in high school. I have read many books on the subject matter, some great, some not so great. This book, unfortunately, falls into the latter of the two. It's a great primer for beginning your research into the subject if you have ZERO knowledge. It brushes over some types of exercises, makes a couple recommendations for which exercises to do before more advanced movements, some nutrition information but no real supplementation information. It also makes what I feel is a fatal error in recommending a personal trainer. If people could afford a personal trainer, they probably wouldn't need this book as a personal trainer can educate you just as well in a shorter period of time the information this book covers. It does have a nice perspective on self motivation during the intro some people may find helpful. Ultimately, I feel the title is misleading for the true content of the book.Disclaimer: I was given a free digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My sister has been trying to get me into her strength training routine and as much as I want to and I want all of the goals she has already achieved through it, I was struggling to keep at it. Just from reading this book, I can tell you from the start I was going about it the wrong way. I was trying to start off with her, at her level, which was way too intense for me. I would be dead the next few days and in so much pain I could not possibly work out. From the text in this book, I can determine I started out too strong. I never thought about taking my time because results would happen if I just started easy and slowly. I was looking for results right away. So tip one, in the front of my mind and I will be giving the strength training another go. This book has everything you need. A breakdown of what it does for your body. How to achieve results if you do not have weights or a gym membership. It weighs the pros and cons if you are shopping for equipment to get started. It gives a rundown of a weekly workout and what not to start with. Then it goes on about the foods you need to eat, the supplements which can help you (but also explains that they won’t do it all so don’t rely heavily on them), the habits that are causing you to fail and tips to break them. With as much information that this book gives, at the end it still gives additional resources that will help you in your journey. For me It was free as long as I was willing to review the product. I think it is great for starting out or refreshing yourself during your strength training process. Hopefully my review can put people in the right direction.
