Unbelievably well written. I myself am a convert from Mormoniam to Catholism and as some may know the Mormon churchs founder Joesph Smith was a freemason and stole a majority of the Temple ceremony (including blood oaths and hand shakes) from the Masons. This book gave me a much better understanding of where i came from and a solid argument against masons for any Christian even non catholics. A must read.
Excellent resource for understanding the true focus of Freemasonry and the dangers of any Christian, Catholic or Protestant, of being a member. Very clear explanations of the philosophy and practices that are in conflict with the teachings of Christ. The choice is clear to any reader: A true Christian can not also be a member of any Freemason organization.
Salza cover all the bases in the book, clearly demonstrating why Catholics cannot be Masons. Recommend this book to anyone caught in some way between the Church and Masonry or anyone interested in the subject.
In his book, John Salza does a very good job of clarifying points of Catholic doctrine as regards the repeated condemnation of Freemazonry on the basis of errors of faith and theology. However, I feel it stops short of thorouglhy exposing historical issues surrounding Mazonry, its real origins, its real progress before and after the institution of the fraternity in 18th century England and the many claims of persecution by the Church.
The book gives a very rudimentary explanation of the topic and actually doesn't take the time to expand when it should. I know that it is not intended for that reason but it touches on many subject and then drops the matter. I will say however that the information provided is not inaccurate I just felt it could have been expanded upon.
I have always wondered why Catholics condemned Masonry and now I have a clear answer. Faith and the Masonic teachings are irreconcilable. This book lays out the excellent reasoning and shows the Church's consistent teaching.I did enjoy learning a little bit more about the Masonic secrets and practices. However, I had hoped for a few more insights into the inner workings of a lodge and the degree distinctions.
I am a 30 year Mason and I bought this book to research the differences between the Catholic church and Freemasonry. I learned why, from a Catholic perspective, that the Catholic church opposes Masonic membership. Not being a Catholic I found the reasoning suspect but interesting. I would encourage readers to study history as well to find out how it affected the relationbship.
Every Catholic should educate themselves on the problem with Free Masons.
