I just love these books. There is a quirky sense of family that is endearing. There are also obvious strokes of grace going on here in the hearts of the characters. It's not so hard to see that this author has an idea of what grace, kindness, belonging, and acceptance are. It's good to have someone hold that up for others to see. It's the type of thing that brings a smile to my face.

Molly Harper is one of my top 10 authors. Great writing, great stories, and great characters! This book is the continuing funny love story of Frankie, the coroner, and Eric the Sheriff. My only complaint was the high price of this ebook...good thing she was in my top 10. 🤓

This is a great book. The author is clearly commited to sharing his knowledge of green drink health benefits. The photography is vibrant (which piques my appetite), the recipes are very diverse and he provides some very good basic info for those like me who are newer to self juicing/blending green drinks.I purchased a green drink subscription service that delivered delicious, local organic drinks to my door each week, but I wanted to taste more variety. That service was excellent, by the way and I may restart it and just make additional versions at home.I bought two of these books along with two powerful blenders, one for me, another for a gift.You will not be disappointed with this book. The recipes are so unique and creative, yet call for produce and fruit that are easily available. I love some of the clever names given to the recipes.Author Jason Manheim hit a home run with this very helpful guide to better health through green drinks. I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

Lots of great tips and the recipes are very tasty. I still would like to find a smoothie book that shows all of the stats (calories, fat, fiber, etc) so that I could incorporate weight watchers with it, or at least being able to count calories. Got to be careful with smoothies because I actually gained weight by adding too many super foods.If someone would come out with a weight watchers smoothie book with the points, they would make a million!

I thought this book was worth the money. It has many easy recipes to consider especially if you are newer to juicing. I prefer mostly vegetable juicing, but this book provides ways to add in some fruits to improve the taste if you must. It also gives you some tips on cutting vegetables and fruits, and portions. I think the title of the book is misleading, because it's not a diet book at all. Matter of fact, one of the things the author says at the beginning is that he believes juicing to be more of a supplement that will make you feel amazing and provides many health benefits (not juicing for the purpose of replacing meals). He said it's not a diet, and that he dares the reader to try juicing for a few days just to see how they feel. The point was that it makes you feel so good that you'll enjoy juicing and it will become more of a lifestyle than "diet" and a supplement and not meal replacement. I liked the pictures in the book, thought the recipes were simple and very clear. It allowed me to experiment. My favorite personal mixture: kale, spinach, parsley, green and red chard, cilantro, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon and ginger.

This has been one of the best green drink books I've used. I especially like that you get recipes for blending/emulsifying whole fruits/vegetables, AND a section for juicing. IMO blending/emulsifying gives you the highest nutrient/fiber content, but Jason's explanation of juicing to provide wholesome nutrients for anyone who really has compromised health is exceptional. ( as an RN, I understand how those who are seriously ill would have a harder time digesting sufficient nutrients.) The book is great, with beautiful photos for each drink, and a note mentioning if better for beginning green drink consumers or those seasoned to more greens, rather than higher sugared fruits. I've been blending for approx. 2 years, to make a protein meal replacement shake each day. I've noticed significant improvements in my hair and nails, and an avoidance of the winter cold/flu season. I have airborne allergies, but did avoid viruses for many years, as I ate a huge salad everyday. Three winters ago I moved to a new state, and am experiencing exposure to new grandsons round of colds. After making added greens a part of my diet, I only had a mild infection the 2nd year, and this year none at all. This is a great book for beginners.

Kavitha M. Chinnaiyan, MD, became drawn to the Direct Path through the teachings of Greg Goode and Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon. She has studied yoga, Sri Vidya Sadhana, Vedanta, and tantra through Chinmaya Mission and the teachings of Sri Premananda, Sally Kempton, and Paul Muller-Ortega. Chinnaiyan blends her expertise in cardiology with her knowledge of Ayurveda, yoga, Vedanta, tantra, and the Direct Path in her program for patients to discover bliss amid chronic illness. She is an integrative cardiologist at Beaumont Health System, and associate professor of medicine at Oakland University Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, MI. I love knowing that this book is written by a woman with a scientific background. In case you missed it, she is a respected cardiologist and an academic, writing with perfect clarity and subtlety about the fields of energy which are operating in all the layers of reality from what seems ordinary to the most sublime. The language is easy to read and yet never simplistic. She speaks from her knowledge of biology and psychology as well as her experience of long term spiritual study and practice.in a number of traditions. The wisdom that emerges is as deep as it is practical. It is power packed from start to finish.

Path to self reflection and spirituality can be challenging. The process can be confusing as well.Knowing the negatives that are weighing us down is the key to addressing and resolving them. In her new book ‘Shakti Rising’, Kavitha M. Chinnaiyan, MD captures the rich essence of Mahavidyas, the divine feminine, to clearly identify the shadows that hold us down, and brilliantly delivers approaches to target them and turn those shadows into the light of Mahavidyas.Shakti Rising invokes soul search to find one’s true ‘Self’. Once that is accomplished, author Kavitha talks about different issues that weigh us down in life, the shadows of Mahavidyas. Kavitha explains the shadow and light of all ten Mahavidyas. She charts the journey towards turning around shadows(the negatives that weigh us down) to harness the light(energy) of the each Mahavidya, leading us to the direct path to liberation. In the direct path, Kavitha states – “we go directly to the source of our being”.Each shadow(negative) is explained with real life situations which we all can relate to. Enriching the narration with her own personal experiences, Kavitha demonstrates how she turned them around. She details specific exercises to begin the journey to resolution of the issues. Exercises are clearly illustrated and are simple enough to incorporate in busy day schedule.Through Shakti Rising Kavitha brings the wealth of deep knowledge from the Yoga Shastra, Kundalini Vidya and Tantras into applicable terms that can be put to immediate use. Fairly new on the spiritual path, I was able to relate with the Mahavidyas whose shadow have been weighing me down and begin the exercises for resolving them.With her up lifting writing style and a delivery resonating passion, Kavitha lights up the path to self resolution and spirituality. I highly recommend Shakti Rising as an essential guide to both new and not so new to the spiritual path.

This book is well written, informative and inspiring. I had no prior exposure to Shiva/Shakti (beyond having heard the terms) and didn't even recognize the term Mahavidyas prior to this book. Each chapter identifies a goddess, followed by an explanation of her symbolism, her role in creation, her role in our bodies and discussions of her shadow and light. The chapters contain contemplative exercises as well as relevant anecdotes and examples. I read the book through for the first time, with notes and highlights as I would a text book of sorts. Portions of the book were challenging because I have no background in many of the areas discussed (even concepts such as non-duality, witnessing, arisings and vasanas). At first, I found myself overwhelmed. But when I took at step back and paced myself (this is not a book someone such as myself could read through in a short time), I was amazed how much information was distilled into each (roughly) 20 page chapters. Even upon re-reading a paragraph or two, I often see something that I didn't quite get the first time. This speaks to the skill and knowledge of the author. This is a book I believe I will revisit and re-read and continue to learn from. I appreciate the supportive and loving tone by which the lessons are presented and our practices encouraged.

I've always been enticed by the power of mythology. I need heroes to motivate me. I need both fictional and non-fictional characters to emulate. In this book, Kavitha has given me some new heroes to incorporate into my Ishta (my Chosen Ideal). I was raised in a Western, Christian atmosphere, where the phrase "divine feminine" was never uttered. But in Shakti Rising, the diverse qualities of the Divine Feminine shine through Kavitha's exploration of the Mahavidyas and their relationship to practical, everyday life.What inspires me further is to know that Kavitha is not only a superb scholar on this subject, but that she is actually LIVING her own version of the mythology. To be sharing these techniques and principles for self-realization is a gift to spiritual seekers from all walks of life.
