One of the book must to have for no native English speakers or writers. This books explain how to write essay correctly by easy way. Unfortunately I lost one I and will buy another

A great exercise book to improve your grammar skills, specially if Spanish is your native language.

Straight to the point, practical, and plenty of exercises. However, some concepts havent explored in great details (for eg. the (subtle) difference between "think of" and "think about" aren't mentioned). But overall a pretty good solid book!

This is great for a teacher, but if you are a student it may be confusing following along.

This book is good for teachers, not for self-teaching. Overall it is a good book.

I picked this one because it seemed to offer what other ESL books I have used in teaching did. It is adequate, but not really as good. It's progression is awkward to me. There are a lot of good things about it, the lessons are adequate for their purpose, but the way it advances leaves me wishing it was building more on the past lesson rather than feeling we were starting out on a completely new tack.

Cool book and love the info but I have read it all on Pottermore for free... Thought there would at least be some new content.

While I enjoyed the information in this eBook, just I did the other two in this short series, I found that there were a few really important things missing from his one. I got overly excited when i started reading the part about Hufflepuff because I thought that she was going to do a detailed description of each of the houses, instead I was disappointed to find that the only house to receive special attention by having a detailed description in this eBook was Hufflepuff. J.K. explains that she did this because Hufflepuff gets left out of so much of the Harry Potter series and that they deserve some recognition, but I feel like this eBook is incomplete in regards to all houses.Being a Ravenclaw I found the lack of a detailed description of my house to be a letdown, but overall the rest of the eBook held some valuable insights into characters and objects that are vital to Hogwarts. It does feel like these were a jumble of random blurbs and excerpts that J.K. has posted online at one point or another, but to have them all in one place is a nice thing for any Harry Potter fan. If you're a fan of the series then you will enjoy this. If you are new to the series I recommend reading a few of the books first so that you will understand the things mentioned in this eBook, and so that you won't run across any unintentional spoilers for the series.

Why this thought never occurred to me I don’t know but I found it funny that wizards “simply relieved themselves wherever they stood, and vanished the evidence” before Hogwarts adopted Muggle plumbing. Sounds gross but the thought of it made me giggle. This book says that the longest period you can travel back to is 5 hours. So I ask J.K. why this is not what happens in the cursed child book.I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Really enjoyed this short book which included secrets of Hogwarts. Though many of the stories were shared in the books themselves it was a great close up look at the mysterious elements of Hogwarts. Also the JK Rowling thoughts were like a little glimpse into how she thinks and where some of the ideas come from. A must read for any Potterhead!

This one was a bit of a disappointment. Very much incomplete and since Rowling is the one who basically wrote all the pieces, then they would be reliable unless she changes her mind.Six chapters for this one similar to the others but in this case, it's more short explanations and Rowling's thoughts. Just a total of three to five pages.The Journey to Hogwarts tells us about King's Cross Station, Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and the Hogwarts Express.The Sorting chapter has, of course, the Sorting Hat and what is a Hatstall.The Castle and Grounds describes the Hufflepuff Common Room, the Marauder's Map and the Great Lake.Lessons at Hogwarts Hogwarts School Subjects and a Time TurnerCastle Residents are the Hogwarts Ghosts and Ghosts in general; the Ballad of Nearly Headless Nick and Hogwarts Portraits with more detail about Sir CadoganSecrets of the Castle consisted of the Mirror of Erised, a Pensieve, the Philosopher's Stone, Sword of Gryffindor, and the Chamber of Secrets.Personally, it was interesting to read and I am glad that it was available as an ebook because, undoubtedly, I could find all the same information on Pottermore if I wanted to dredge through postings. But also because it was a relatively inexpensive purchase. I just wished there was more "meat" to these blurbs on Hogwarts.Note: This same review is posted on GoodReads

Even though I am aware of the Pottermore website and have periodically visited and read a bit of the content, I thoroughly enjoyed this guide. It is perfectly arranged, beginning with a description of the journey to Hogwarts. Once at the school, the book branches off into other areas such as castle residents, students' lessons, and the sorting hat. It was interesting to read Ms. Rowling's descriptions followed by her personal thoughts (which at times allow us into her mind and reveal how she created different elements of the stories).As pointed out, one could search around the website and find most of what was in the book. Missing, however, would be the opportunity to experience the author's skill at putting together a collection of quick stories and descriptions and turning it into something magical. Five stars.

As usual, Dunnett provides a meticulously researched view of a world too unfamiliar to most of us, featuring protagonists who are highly intelligent -- indeed, like every Dunnett book, the more often you reread it, the more fun you have with it. The set piece with the ostrich is a classic scene that has stayed with me for almost 30 years.

First read these books years ago. Love historical novels anyhow but the breadth of the history in this series, of which this is the first book, is breathtaking. Niccolo's relationships, romantic and not, are exhausting. This was the era of or just before, Machiavelli, I think, and he and Niccolo would have been well-matched adversaries. The countries of Europe were just beginning to form and Dorothy Dunnett takes us from Africa, Constantinople, the Holy Lands, across the Mediterranean, through Greece, up and down the Italian boot through all the Italian city-states, all over emerging France, Germany, Belgium, Scandinavia, and across to the British Isles. If you like romance novels in historic settings, you'll love this.

I approached this book, the first in the series with a good deal of trepidation. I had finished The Lymond Chronicles earlier in the year and didn't think that this book, or main character would be able to match the level of fascination that I had viewed Francis Lymond.So I was relieved, very relieved to have another worthy character to be involved with. Niccolo vander Poele is quite mesmerising and the plot in this story is as riveting and convoluted as only Dorothy Dunnett can deliver.To my mind it is a marvellous start to the series. The characters are so well drawn and the setting addictive. It's not a book that you can gloss over, it needs to be savoured.

Doubtless there are many reviews of the content of this novel, it's history and characters. Dennett tells the story not through a relentless narrative, but with hints and feints like she's fencing with her reader until all the pieces come together. At the same time she does a wonderful job of world building, full of smells and dust and noises from the crowd. I found myself sneaking time away from my day to read a few more pages.

Niccolo' Rising is the most well researched fiction I have read since Colleen McCullough's "Masters of Rome" series. This is the first of seven books of the House of Niccolo' and involves an incredible amount of research, the down side being that it's a little tiring to read. Though it leaves me in jaw-dropping awe of the writer, I doubt that I will have the fortitude to read the entire series. However, I am enthralled enough with the protagonist, Nicholas vander Poele to continue with the second book: The Spring of the Ram.Nicholas is an incredibly unique young man: peaceful, pleasant, charming to the point of being irresistible to women, yet he is a genius with a formidible talent for manipulating the powers around him like Chess pieces - without anyone being the wiser. That is probably because it is his nature to speak softly and smile with an endearing sweetness and innocence which may or may not be guileless. No one knows. I prefer to think that it is.The time is the 1400's and Nicholas is a good-natured dyer's apprentice who sweetly battles his way up to the helm of a mercantile empire - in spite of his youthful shenanigans. I must find out what he does next.

This new series here has a great start, fascinating times, complex characters and curious starts on multiple storylines, in terms of friends, lovers, enemies, plus the local and global politics of the major trading, governments, and religions of the era. I finished eagerly awaiting the next part of the saga.

 A most fabulous interplay of history and fiction. Dorothy did an amazing job weaving characters together and creating a complex story. She took quite a few characters out of history, made up her own, and created a fabulous story of business, lust, love, sex, betrayal and mystery. Plans withing plans within plans, much like the 1,001 nights told by Shahrazad. At first the story was a little hard to follow with all the people and events going on, but after the first few pages it takes you in and you can't wait to see what happens next to the sultry character Niccolo. Who is he sleeping with, or setting up to be killed, or undoing in a business venture?? Clearly a master mind in a time when people weren't so educated and would stab you in the back over pocket change.

First, the "House of Niccolo" should be read BEFORE the "chronicle of Limond" because this collection sets the stage for Limond to arrive.Secondly, one shall not expect, right away to enter with ease into the 1st volume. It explains the birth of the banking system, the mercantile system and so on. No matter how brilliant you are, one has to explain it to be able to build on it. And that's what Dunnett does with elegance. Do not drop the book, it takes few chapters and then starts the fabulous ascension of Nicholas.Each book happens in a different country. I've visited all but one and Dunnett left me breathless. Again, you can't put any book down. So, stick to it and you'll have a great reward of knowledge, history and fiction. Niccolo more than Lymond is a great peace of Art. Enjoy.

I have, and am extremely happy with, two Eating Well cookbooks (500 Calorie Meals, Dinners for Two). So I was expecting a very good soup cookbook, and I was right when I received this book. I am completely satisfied with this cookbook for several reasons. First, the Eating Well series gives nutritional information about each recipe. I need to watch my saturated fats and each recipe gives that information, along with calories per serving (surprisingly low!), sodium, cholesterol, carbs, fiber and more. I'm happy to say the recipes in this book fall into the sat fat range I need.Second... the variety of categories of soup recipes is amazing. I've had the book for two months and have made at least one recipe a week. Should I mention I love soup? Even at a recipe a week, this book will last provide many weeks of good food. The recipes are broken down into categories that I would have never thought of, and that's part of the fun of this cookbook.Third... building on my last point, one of my favorite soups is from the the section called "Kindersoups" (soups for kids). Well, I may be in my late 60s, but the "Chicken Potpie Soup with Tater Tot Topping" is a winner no matter how old you are.If I had to choose a favorite at this point, it would be Creamy Tomato Soup with Tortellini (page 111). At 322 calories a serving (1.5 cups) and a grilled cheese sandwich, it would be just about the perfect lunch or dinner .Who knew healthy could also be tasty?

I have made 4 of the soup recipes so far. Each one was delicious.Mexican Cabbage Soup - the only change I made was adding the cabbage at the very end and turning off the burner about 1-2 minutes later. I knew from my years of making Posole that I preferred the cabbage still crunchy when dining.Loved the Green Egg and Ham Soup. Chicken Enchilada Soup was a winner. My family and friends raved over the Cuban Black Bean Soup.I am looking forward to working my way through the cookbook.Most of the ingredients are staples in my kitchen. The recipes, however, are creative and tasty with unique flavor combinations.It will be a "go to" cookbook whenever I want soup.

I had to buy two... one to loan out!

Nearly perfect ... informative and accurate descriptions, and very useful information. I have lived in Nashville for 11 years, and there were places less than 20 minutes away that I had never heard of. An excellent book for anyone interested in enjoying the outdoors. The only reason I gave it four stars is because there are no addresses - there's a map, but for the hikes I've done so far, I had to look up the addresses online to be able to put them into my GPS. It's a small price to pay - the book was a great purchase and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Found this very useful in finding some out of the way hikes that others had not heard of before.

The go-to source for hiking in the Nashville area gets a nice update for its fourth edition, including several new destinations and trail changes (see below for the list of changes). The changes are largely a testament to local recognition of outdoor recreation opportunities as one of the factors that make Middle Tennessee such a liveable area and attractive travel destination. Especially noteworthy are Nashville's ongoing parks and greenways expansion and Tennessee State Park's commitment to creating a compelling hiking destination at Henry Horton State Park.Middle Tennessee needs no introduction as a beautiful natural landscape: rolling hills, lush farmland, peaceful woods, tumbling creeks, lovely lakes. Johnny Molloy catalogs the plethora of trails within a 90 minute drive or so of downtown, with a great eye for detail and history. His conversational prose gives natural and historical context to the hikes. The hike selection found here definitely hits the highlights of the area, and completing them all is a satisfying accomplishment.My favorites in the guide are Radnor Lake (for a real challenge, hit Ganier Ridge and South Cove Trail in one quad-busting loop), Harpeth Woods Trail, Confederate Earthworks Walk, Narrows of the Harpeth, Short Springs Natural Area, and Rock Island State Park.Hikes that have been removed since the Third Edition:-Anderson Road Fitness Trail, an overused, mediocre path through a pleasant setting that pales in comparison with the many other Percy Priest Lake trails.-Lakeside Trail, a fun, pretty trail that is just not quite as nice as the nearby Jones Mill Trail.-Pinnacle Trail, same comment as for the Lakeside Trail-Burns Branch There-and-Back, a formerly fantastic trail that isn't the same as it was before TN-840 was built across it.-Horseshoe Trail, a nice walk in the woods, but not as satisfying as the other Bowie Nature Park offerings.-Barfield Wilderness Loop, a place that I am fond of and have hiked many times; sadly, this nice little hike is a victim of the growth of fine outdoor areas.Added:-Richland Creek Greenway: McCabe Loop, a hike that I have yet to do but have heard great things about. Yay for a new one on my to-do list!-Heritage Park/Thompson's Station Park Hike, which I've hiked more than any other trail in this book thanks to its proximity to my house. A fantastic hike for its natural setting, sweat-inducing hill climb, and historical interest.-Adeline Wilhoite River Trail, a lovely riverside hike that showcases the beauty of the Duck River.-Hickory Ridge Trail, formerly a cute little trail but lengthened into a real gem in 2014. The trail passes through hardwoods, interesting geological features, and a fascinating tree shaped into a directional sign by Native Americans.-Smith Park Hike, a new gem of a park in Brentwood that is both surprisingly lovely and surprisingly challenging.-Sellars Farm State Archaeological Area, a peaceful creekside setting for a Native American mound village.Changes:-Peeler Park hike was updated to reflect several new, natural surface trails that significantly lengthen the park's trail system and appeal.-Renamed Old Hickory Trail to Old Hickory Lake Nature Trail-Renamed Nathan Bedford Forrest Five Mile Loop to Nathan Bedford Forrest Five-Mile Trail-Renamed Highland Trail to Ridgetop Trail-Renamed Stones River Battlefield Loop to Stones River National Battlefield Loop-Renamed John C. I actually went through training for this service for my church. There were a dozen of us in the training group, the idea being that we would each lead a group of our own. Overwhelmingly we agreed (except for the minister herself) that Hill had never actually done this himself. This is a very idealistic idea of how such small groups should work, not how they do work. The groups that came from this training adapted the "rules", each group amending the set of rules to meet the needs of that group. Most were far more relaxed than Hill suggested, beginning with trust and confidence in each other. I truly question that this is a way to "save the world", but the groups are a nice way for people to get to know each other better.

This book is a great resource for best practices in covenant groups in a church. There are also many explanations of things that can go wrong and what to avoid. It is great for ministers and others managing and organizing and facilitating groups.

Well done. Very helpful not only in running a group but also addresses implementation and new membership issues.

This book is a terrific "how to" guide for creating and nurturing small church groups that will in turn nurture their members. If you have questions about why small groups have not worked in your church, or started well, but couldn't maintain their momentum, this is the book for you.Sometimes called "covenant groups," the small groups of this model have "covenant" as their cornerstone.
