I enjoyed this book and think that it is something that all school districts should take more time to do. Previously, branding was the premise of private schools as they sought to attract new students, justify their fees and increase enrollment, but it is more relevant than ever for today's public schools. However, this isn't about branding in the business sense, it's about branding in the storytelling sense. Who is the storyteller in chief at your school? What do they share and how do they share? There are amazing things happening in our schools today, truly amazing things, but often they do not leave the four walls of that academic institution so parents don't always here about them. Seth Godin said you are what you share. If you are a school that doesn't share the great work of your students and teachers, how can you hope to engage the community at large and form learning partnerships with parents to ensure the success of all students? Joe and Tony explore a variety of digital tools to help spread your message and talk about the benefits of sharing.Recommended reading for all school leaders.
Our school is very small, rural k-12 with a lot of heart, as half of the Community Outreach team we need creative ways to let the surrounding area know about our amazing little school. This was so informational! I’m wondering if it’s a little dated on the social media data since perhaps Twitter is waning amongst teens but the principles are the same. This book also made me rethink my personal push for a school app, perhaps it would make more sense to find out where our people already are and streamline all our school info there (instead of each teacher using a different app/outlet source). Thanks for the great, easy to read book!
Really enjoyed this book. Teaches leaders to represent their school and build it!
Your great accessible book affirms many suppositions I had on branding a school. Thank you for sharing very doable strategies that will ultimately strengthen school and community relationships. Cheers!
A great read to get you thinking about how to get your school's message to your stakeholders. Also provides some helpful links and apps to get that message out there.
My school has begun work with branding what we do and I was hopeful this book would be more specific about the science behind it and have more concrete examples --- especially for large urban campuses. Maybe I expected too much.
Tony and Joe do a great job spelling out how to Brand your School.
