Short, sweet and direct to the point and covered the topics we all wondered about. If you're looking to get into writing short romance as a side pen name or as a full-time name this little book is a great tool. Pointed me in the right direction on several topics such as keywords, book length and publishing schedule.

I really did read this book for anyone who cares... :) This book is short, sweet and gives it to you in steps of 1,2,3. Can't get any simpler than that. Not a long drawn out book I read it from front to back in about 30 minutes, but it has a lot of really great information in it including the steps to start writing, which for me seems to be the hardest part.Thank you, Hope, for sharing all this information I will use it wisely and often.

I have a difficult time taking writing advice from this author - she definitely needs to take a basic English grammar course, and she needs to learn how to self-edit. The book itself is very short, and you can find the information just by doing a simple Google search. This book would be better if the author included a few chapters on romance short stories - such romance tropes and simple plotting.

This short book was very helpful, & gives insight in viewing how Hope Ford got started with writing & selling her books. Since reading my first Hope Ford short story, I have been so entranced with Hope Ford's writing style. I have bought every book so far, & I just have not been able to put my kindle down. Love her work!

It's a short and handy book with some tips and tricks (basic ones, not really going into any depth). I liked it, though I would have appreciated a little more in-depth advice, and maybe another read-through by the author for editing reasons.

Very helpful

FIrst book that I’ve read on this topic. Short but very informative —- which I really liked. Talked about things I would have never even considered.

You won't be wasting your time reading about the author's bio, childhood and other irrelevant stuff in this book. It's inspiring, short and to the point. It's like getting the author on a Skype chat, asking her questions, getting her replies. How did you do it? How did you choose the genre? Where do you find your ideas? Hope Ford answers all those questions and more in this book.Surely, I spotted a few misspellings and grammatical errors. But do I care? No, because to me the most important issue is to learn. Not to read perfect prose. Also, I would have loved to see example outlines for her short stories. What structure does she use if any?But the book is a good read if you need a push to get started and if you want to read how a fellow author succeeded without being perfect. Her covers are homemade and she self-edit her books. This book shows how simple it is, and we just need to do it now.

Unbelievably well written. I myself am a convert from Mormoniam to Catholism and as some may know the Mormon churchs founder Joesph Smith was a freemason and stole a majority of the Temple ceremony (including blood oaths and hand shakes) from the Masons. This book gave me a much better understanding of where i came from and a solid argument against masons for any Christian even non catholics. A must read.

Excellent resource for understanding the true focus of Freemasonry and the dangers of any Christian, Catholic or Protestant, of being a member. Very clear explanations of the philosophy and practices that are in conflict with the teachings of Christ. The choice is clear to any reader: A true Christian can not also be a member of any Freemason organization.

Salza cover all the bases in the book, clearly demonstrating why Catholics cannot be Masons. Recommend this book to anyone caught in some way between the Church and Masonry or anyone interested in the subject.

In his book, John Salza does a very good job of clarifying points of Catholic doctrine as regards the repeated condemnation of Freemazonry on the basis of errors of faith and theology. However, I feel it stops short of thorouglhy exposing historical issues surrounding Mazonry, its real origins, its real progress before and after the institution of the fraternity in 18th century England and the many claims of persecution by the Church.

The book gives a very rudimentary explanation of the topic and actually doesn't take the time to expand when it should. I know that it is not intended for that reason but it touches on many subject and then drops the matter. I will say however that the information provided is not inaccurate I just felt it could have been expanded upon.

I have always wondered why Catholics condemned Masonry and now I have a clear answer. Faith and the Masonic teachings are irreconcilable. This book lays out the excellent reasoning and shows the Church's consistent teaching.I did enjoy learning a little bit more about the Masonic secrets and practices. However, I had hoped for a few more insights into the inner workings of a lodge and the degree distinctions.

I am a 30 year Mason and I bought this book to research the differences between the Catholic church and Freemasonry. I learned why, from a Catholic perspective, that the Catholic church opposes Masonic membership. Not being a Catholic I found the reasoning suspect but interesting. I would encourage readers to study history as well to find out how it affected the relationbship.

Every Catholic should educate themselves on the problem with Free Masons.

I first read the devotional on the Bible app, and thus decided to purchase the books. I first read David's book and was amazing, so decided to get the box set and is one of the best books I have read. Each daily reading is short but packed with good advice. The devotional is good, the takeaway is good and the example prayer is also good. So far I have read David and Abraham's, and I can't wait to start with Jacob.I do recommend go day by day and not try to read several days in one sit because it is better if you let it sink and you think and meditate on it. I also recommend that when you start, you first read the Bible versicles that are the base of the day, and then read the devotional.

I've tried many devotionals... never stuck with them. After moving through "CLIMBING WITH ABRAHAM" (free on KINDLE) I bought the series. Just finished ESCAPING WITH JACOB and I am thrilled. Relates to our human ways and how God works in spite of us. Very well done series, and only two books in! I'd buy it again, and would happily give as a gift!

Just love this author's series on these great bible saints. You will love it too. Can be done as a morning or evening devotional or as a family devotional too. Love his insight.

Love the DEVOS..

Great Price for six devotionals.

Well written and an easy read. It brought to light a number of insights I had not seen before. Very enjoyable.

I was introduced to a portion of David Ramos devotionals in the Bible app! I liked it so much, that I searched for more devos by him and found portions of his other devos and read through those as well. When those were done, I found his free devotional in Amazon. That’s when I realized there was more than just a portion of each! I especially liked Crowned With David, and did a family devotional with my children using the the portion of it that I found in the Bible app.. the kids were disappointed when it was over!! Lol... So... I will definitely purchase all his devos in the near future.... especially Crowned with David. It encouraged me sooo much. What is super cool about these devotionals is that they are like a devotional and a commentary at the same time!! It’s like a bible study and not just a feel good theology of some kind...

This was a great book perfect timing for what is happening in my life right now. I do belt God let's is know what he's doing in our lives, and then we have to watch pray and act accordingly. Getting caught in the smaller battles along the way is a challenge, and needs prayers and support

Review

"A reminder of how good radio used to be, and a heck of a good read." -- Seattle Times, December 6, 1998"Ben Fong-Torres, of Rolling Stone magazine and Gavin Report fame, has managed to capture the essence of the golden age of Top 40 radio, a phenomenon that, as Ben points out, 'has gone through 45 revolutions per minute for 45 years.' It's a fast-paced book, just like the format, rich in historical detail and anecdotes about how the Top 40 format has managed to 'stay forever young.'...You feel like you're in direct contact with the way many of Top 40's philosophical roots were formed (and why they've spilled over into other formats today.)" -- Programmer's Digest, December 1998"Perfect for those interested in radio, rock 'n' roll, and good times." -- The Citizens' Voice, December 12, 1998"Tops the charts as one of the most user-friendly and colorful accounts....Recommended for anyone interested in the history of radio, this is certainly an excellent supplementary volume for courses focusing on broadcast programming and its role in culture." -- Communication Booknotes Quarterly, Spring 1999"You'll listen to radio with new ears and new appreciation when you're done with this one." -- "Cosmik Debris" webzine, February 1999

As seems to be true of some other reviewers who were less than thrilled with this book, I too have trouble elaborating on the problems, but here are my primary issues with it:Ben Fong-Torres has his favorite DJ's and almost all of them are from the late '50's and involved with promoting R&B. While that's definitely a substantial basis for the eventual wild success of Top 40 playlists. Frankly, while many many singers and groups were black, I lived through that era in the south, picking up WABC or WLS and the songs were NOT R&B as would be heard on R&B stations, almost never in quantity and quality. However, Ben drones on and on and on about this, perhaps for PC reasons. Even when he doesn't, most of his readers wanted to hear about the DJ's and power-house stations from 1964 to the beginning of the 1980's, NOT occult DJ's who moved between owners featured as innovators. This book is a good effort, just too dry and factual in it's interests on station management and the "crazy" DJ's of the mid fifties.

If you grew up in the second half of the 20th century, Top 40 Radio was important to you. It was your friend--intimate, human, entertaining--and a means of connecting with youth culture across the country. And, according to Ben Fong-Torres, the author of "The Hits Just Keep On Coming" it did as much or more to foster racial integration than any legislative act of Congress.Fong-Torres couples exhaustive research with a gift for story-telling. As he tells it, in the 1950s radio was in dire need of an overhaul. All the major radio networks--NBC, CBS and the like--were selling off their stations left and right and moving into the Next Big Thing--television. And all the advertising money and major talent was following their lead. Radio was being relegated to the minor leagues of local broadcasting. In other words, radio was dead. Or was it? While television was sinking its hooks into American culture, something was happening in local radio around the country. In Cleveland, DJ Alan Freed was discovering a generation of white kids who couldn't get enough "race music" (a.k.a. rhythm and blues). In Los Angeles, Hunter Hancock was making the same discovery.Meanwhile, in Omaha, Nebraska, the program director at KOWH named Todd Storz had noticed that people in the local diner kept punching up the same songs on the juke box, over and over again. Even after the dinner crowd cleared out, the waitress punched up the same songs again. When he asked her why, she replied simply: "I like `em." That gave Storz an idea. With the waitress's help, he wrote down the titles of all the records they'd been hearing. Since the less popular records, although available in the box, had received not a single nickel, the list was short. Storz returned to his station, instructed his DJs to dispense with playing country, jazz, and classical, and to play only the songs on his list with special emphasis on repeated playing of the ones at the top of the list. That way, anyone tuning in to KOWH at any time was liable to hear their favorite pop tunes. KOWH, which had been last in the ratings, was soon Omaha's number one station. At the same time, a program director named Gordon McLendon down in Dallas had made the same discovery. He expanded the station's playlist to 40 tunes, added special promotions and jingles which he coupled with less talk and more music, and called the format "Top 40 Radio." Ratings soared, advertising dollars poured in, and before long both Storz and McLendon bought more radio stations and expanded their concept into other cities. More stations jumped on board, and within a few short years Top 40 Radio was a coast to coast phenomenon. With less air time to speak, disc jockeys were forced to talk faster and before long supercharged radio personalities like New York's Murray the K were ruling the airways. At first, Top 40 Radio had little to do with teens. It was simply disc jockeys following a tight playlist. Then, in 1956, Elvis Presley performed on television for the first time. His label, RCA Records, did the unprecedented by releasing five Presley singles all at once, which climbed to the top the charts and crowded out the likes of Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford, Perry Como, and Doris Day. At the same time, the "race music" played by Alan Freed (now in New York City) and Hunter Hancock in Los Angeles (and in cities like Memphis and New Orleans) was finding a national audience among teens and began cracking the Top 40 playlist. Advertisers got the message and began redirecting their pitch to the growing teenage market.Suddenly, radio was Big again. By 1960, the number-one stations in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles were all Top 40 and local DJs were the new stars of the airway. One of them was Dick Clark, who also hosted a national television show from his home base in Philadelphia. In Los Angeles, meanwhile, Top 40 Radio was undergoing yet another overhaul by a failed DJ-turned program director named Bill Drake. If Top 40 Radio seemed frantic at times, Drake made it more so. In order to play more music, he shortened the playing time of records to around two-minutes and aired fewer advertising spots. When Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys arrived at KHJ "Boss Angeles" one afternoon with his newest single--"Good Vibrations"--the DJ working at the time said he couldn't play it because it was too long. In order to get permission, the DJ called the program director who in turn called Bill Drake (who was out on the golf course somewhere). Finally, back down the chain of command, Drake gave his blessing and the DJ was allowed to debut the Beach Boys' next big single, despite being over three minutes long. Then, like some pied piper, Drake spread "Boss Radio" from station to station around the country, from Los Angeles to San Francisco, to Detroit, Boston, Memphis, and finally to New York City. In every city "Boss Radio" took over the airwaves--except in New York, where WABC and WMCA had the Top 40 market locked up. Why did it fail in New York? WABC's "Cousin Brucie" Morrow offered this explanation. "To me, what's wrong with consultants (like Chuck Blore) is that they're strangers, they're out-of-towners. They may know their area . . . but I don't think they understand New York. Every market has its individual spirit and feeling."With FM radio on the rise, by 1968 Bill Drake had more than New York to worry about. FM was "the Next Big Thing" and mirrored what was happening in the market place. Kids were no longer buying singles but albums, and FM radio was playing them. The industry was changing. FM DJ's weren't frantic ravers but objective voices of reason who played entire album without commercial interruption. With its wider frequencies, FM sounded better and could be heard in stereo. AM had no response, and innovators like Bill Drake knew it. They switched Top 40 from AM to FM but never with the success they had once enjoyed. Radio was still Big, but from 1970 onward, it was no longer ruled by the Top 40 format. Now, some forty years later, Top 40 Radio continues, but like everything else in radio it has become a niche industry, catering to a small but dedicated group of listeners. Fong-Torres concludes: "Top 40 Radio can last forever--especially if people realize, as the format's forefathers did, that teenagers and young adults want only a few things in life: a sense of belonging, a sense of identity, and, socially, a sense of what's happening . . . and no matter the onslaught of changing technology and the resultant myriad entertainment choices, radio remains unique in its ability to cater to the local community."

An account of U.S. pop radio's heyday from the 1950s to the 1980s, "The Hits Just Keep On Coming" winds up being as personality-fueled as the medium it chronicles - to a fault. For author Ben Fong-Torres, the story of Top 40 radio is best explained with capsule biographies of its most successful disc jockeys, folks like Cousin Brucie, Wolfman Jack, Murray the K, the Real Don Steele, and Casey Kasem, exemplars of the funny one-liner, of reading ad copy like they really believed it, and the art of "hitting the post", which meant a spoken intro that stopped just as the vocals on the record you were spinning kicked in.But of course it wasn't just the jocks that made Top 40 radio. It was the music they played. Top 40 was an amalgam of musical styles, from classic pop of the Sinatra ilk to country to soul to novelty records to disco to rock of various stripes. Here "Hits" falls short. It tells you more about the people spinning the records than the records they were spinning."The greatest DJ is the one who can live within the formula," he quotes Buffalo, NY jock Dick Biondi, also known as The Screamer, "and make it sound not only happy and interesting, but as if he is producing and pulling the music all by himself."Fong-Torres gets a lot of good quotes from his interviews, not only from Biondi but Dick Clark, Howard Clark, Russ Syracuse, Bill Ballance, etc. If I had grown up on the West Coast in the 1960s instead of the East Coast in the 1970s, I would have been in hog heaven. "Cousin" Brucie Morrow does appear, the former WABC jock who reveals himself still holding a ridiculous grudge against Wolfman Jack well after the latter's death. At the core of Fong-Torres book is the tension between two rival styles of Top 40 radio, that of Chuck Blore's "color radio" of the late 1950s and early 1960s, where personality was king, and Bill Drake's "boss radio" format which dominated by the mid-1960s, which put the emphasis on pushing music and radio station call letters. Obviously the jocks for the most part speak more highly of the Blore approach, but Fong-Torres admirably gives both sides their due. The best chapter features a comparison of how an hour of radio time was broken down under both formats. The chapters feel very loosely organized, however. It seems like Fong-Torres couldn't decide whether he wanted a coffee-table book or a more scholarly history, so it ends up being written somewhere in the middle, with sidebars that don't always seem to connect to the chapters. The chronology goes back and forth, with Alan Freed rubbing shoulders with Gary Owens. Fong-Torres "rockist" leanings as a Rolling Stone editor come out a lot, too; he has a hard time concealing his contempt for "middle-of-the-road" music even when that was a median strip for the Top 40 format from its beginning to its end.Ultimately, I missed reading more about the music, how it affected what the DJs were about, and how it changed with the times. Published in 1998, the book also holds out hope that Top 40 radio could make a comeback, which has not turned out to be the case. In that way "Hits" is as much a casualty of the times as its subject. One cool bonus feature is a compact disc with airchecks of 16 Top 40 jocks, including Freed ripping the movie "Blackboard Jungle" for negatively portraying teenagers, Bobby Ocean explaining in the 1970s that Don Henley, Glenn Frey, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr have formed a new band called "The Beagles", and Gary Owens holding you in his "strong Crowell-Collier hairy-like arms" for a goodbye kiss. The best and worst thing to say about this book is it left me wanting more.

Ben Fong-Torres is a legendary rock journalist. His book is particularly interesting for the extensive coverage of pop Disc jockeys. It brought back fond memories of the greats like Dick Biondi. The book doesn't answer the question if he got fired from WLS in Chicago for telling a dirty joke (What is the difference between snowboys and snowgirls--snowballs). Actually, that story is an urban legend. My main complaint is that the appendix with the pop number ones list is rife with annoying typos. A few examples: Tommy Rose, not Tommy Roe. Nelson instead of Nilson? The number of weeks at number one is omitted for many of the songs that were at number one at the end of a year. Incredibly sloppy and disappointing.

Review

“There are many other short, illustrated, cartoony books about the Gold Rush for the elementary age range, but this one manages to combine pathos and humor, and to communicate much with an engaging and brief text, making it a first-choice introduction to the subject.” ―The Horn Book Magazine“The inventive page compositions and scratchy watercolor cartoon figures carry small, telling dramas (the tiny grin that punctuates a successful panner's face is priceless), and sweeping western landscapes come into full relief, bringing not only visual context but a sense of playfulness to the book. A solid look at an eventful period in American history.” ―Booklist“The book presents a thorough description of a unique period in American history, illustrated in a manner to attract younger readers.” ―School Library Journal“The harmony of narration, wry watercolor pictures, and quotes from the miners themselves nonetheless makes this an engaging introduction for children who are just beginning to explore historical accounts beyond their social studies textbooks.” ―BCCB“This well-researched account details how several things originated from the country's gold fever--such as the idiom 'pans out,' Levi Strauss jeans, and the dramatic expansion of the city of San Francisco.” ―Publishers Weekly

The story and illustrations made this book understandable, relatable, and enjoyable for my 4th graders studying California history.

Bought this for my grandson and he loved it.

Works well for 4th graders

"Gold! Gold from the American River!"Written & illustrated by Don Brown. . .Don Brown is one of my major kid's-lit heroes, due to his large catalog of historically-oriented picturebooks, including numerous biographies as well as the "Actual Times" series, of which this book is a part. "Gold! Gold!" tells the story of the California Gold Rush of 1849-52 in plain, straightforward, pleasantly engaging prose. The narrative conveys the excitement of the gold boom and the way in which it transformed Northern California from a sleepy backwater into a thriving financial hub, giving birth to the modern state of today. Brown also skillfully weaves in alternative stories, of the hardships pioneers endured coming out West, as well as the discrimination faced by Native Americans, Chinese laborers and women in the boom economy of the era... I picked this book up as an additional resource for a grade-school unit on California history and it was well-received and very informative. Recommended! (DJ Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain children's book review blog)

Gold! Gold From the American River! is a great book introducing young readers to the California Gold Rush of 1849. We learn about how gold was discovered, the challenges and hazards of traveling to California by land or sea, techniques of gold mining, difficulties and disappointments with gold mining, the unfortunate fate of American Indians in California, and entrepreneurs such as Philip Armour and Levi Strauss. Author Don Brown uses primary sources in the narrative and supplements the text with vivid watercolors. The book emphasizes that the merchants profited the most from the Gold Rush. Though the book is designed more for young readers, adults will find this volume to be a great overview about one of the largest mass migrations in history.

After James Marshall discovered gold in the runoff ditch of John Sutter's sawmill on the American River early in 1848, the exciting news spread quickly. Within the next six years, some three hundred thousand people had migrated to California in hopes of striking it rich. Some of those migrants did indeed get lucky and make a fortune from the gold they found, but most miners worked under extremely difficult conditions only to come up empty-handed.Native Americans experienced the most hardship as they suffered from new illnesses carried by the miners, expulsion from their land, and outright killings. International migrants, especially those from China, also faced hostility and discrimination that included having to pay a monthly foreign miners tax. In direct contrast, enterprising women and men who sold goods and services to the miners did quite well financially. Some of these entrepreneurs created businesses that have continued to this day, including Levi Strauss's clothing company and Philip Armour's meatpacking firm. With its interesting content and lively pace, this historical narrative provides young learners with a helpful overview of some of the key events in America's gold rush. The book, which is well-researched and does a good job in keeping the reader's attention, can provide a useful resource for talking with children about economic concepts that include natural resources, discrimination, and entrepreneurship.

I like all of Michael Connelly's books and in the past I have had a special fondness for his standalones, but The Reversal may well be his best ever. The premise: Lawyer Mickey Haller has been asked by the D.A. to prosecute a case in which the previously-guilty perp's case has been reversed. The case is more than two decades old and Mickey has concerns. He's always been on the defense side of the aisle and prosecuting is alien to all of his instincts. Moreover, he wonders if the D.A. is dodging the case and setting Mickey up for some great fall. He agrees to take the case but only if he can have sufficient independence to do things his way and only if he can appoint his own team. Mickey wants his ex-wife Maggie to be his #2 and he wants his half-brother Harry Bosch to be his investigator. The case is fairly simple. A young girl, dressed up for church, was abducted and found dead in a dumpster shortly thereafter. There is some DNA on her dress which doesn't match the prime suspect's, but there are several strands of her hair found in his truck. He was at the scene and he was familiar with the location of the dumpster in which her body was found. An eyeball witness (the little girl's older sister) identified him as her abductor. Since then, however, she has led a dysfunctional life of drink, drugs and bad men and the defense team intends to challenge the accuracy of her memory. The plot is not convoluted and endlessly complex; it is, instead, a very close examination of a limited number of facts. It is very much like a `Prime Suspect' episode, but with dual protagonists. It is also a superb courtroom drama. For those who love such books and relish the writings of Steve Martini, we now have Michael Connelly working that turf (and not a minute too soon, as Steve Martini is now writing suspense/espionage books). The Reversal is Mickey's novel more than Harry's, though Connelly cuts between the two of them in alternating chapters. Mickey's sections are told in the first person, Harry's in the third-person/omniscient. The architectonics of the plot are very, very impressive and the courtroom lore/strategizing/maneuvering are delicious. Connelly is writing more like a lawyer than a journalist. The characters are interesting, particularly the smarmy, British defense attorney and Maggie `McFierce' McPherson, Mickey's ex. The witnesses all speak in their own unique voices and the judge is precisely the sort you would choose to adjudicate your own case if you were accused of murder. This is very impressive work. Un-put-downable. Perhaps the book of the Fall, though the new Lee Child and Dennis Lehane are looming on the horizon.Highly recommended.

Justin Jessup was accused and arrested for the murder of a 12 yr old girl in 1986. There was a witness to the abduction, the sister, who also identified him in a lineup.Move forward a few years, DNA is on the scene. A semen stain on the dress leads to the girl's stepfather and the Supreme Court throws out the conviction, telling the LA courts to retry him. Looks like a slam dunk that he will be acquitted, right?Mickey Haller is asked to cross the aisle and be the prosecutor for the case. Harry Bosch is his investigator, and his ex-wife is second chair. There is quite a different way of thinking between the prosecutor and defense attorney, but he does his job very well. So well that---surprise!!There is the possibility that Jessup may have been a serial killer, because at that time, several girls between 12-18 just fell off the face of the earth. Bosch is determined to find out. But something horrific happens after court.

I like reading a series of books with one main character. I get to know them. I have therefore read all of Michael Connelly's books centered on the Detective Bosch. Because I finished all of them I tried other authors with less success and then returned to read some of of his other books of Conelly's centering on other characters. I like Bosch the best (when he was active in the police department), the Lawyer Haller was good, and the the reporter was McElroy was also ok. This book however, which is really about the lawyer Haller is the best of all because it engages several of the characters I have come to know. Haller is the focus of the book of course, but Bosch has a major roll and the FBI profiler makes a major contribution. The book was detailed enough in its story that you knew what was happening and it felt possible, it had sufficient character interactions and development to hold interest beyond the story, and the story ended with the unexpected. My favorite of his books so far.

This book made me a better lawyer. Both the tactics and the cross examination dialogue are spot on. I caught only one error -- most modern courts have dispensed with the "You can't cross examine your own witness" rule. Also, Royce, the defense attorney, should have figured out how to signal to Roman the the silent witness could not testify, perhaps by loudly demanding her sequestration. Otherwise, the courtroom recreation was brilliant. The twisty ending was fine as well, although I would have liked a little more insight into the defendant. The weakest part of the book was the explanation of how the jury would have come out. A junior's statement to the press is one thing. His actions in the jury room are another. Overall, though, an excellent book. I urge all aspiring and practicing trial lawyers to read it.

I have been reading Connelly's Bosch series from beginning to end. I came next to the Reversal, which is primarily a courtroom drama featuring Mickey Haller. But Bosch is the case investigator. So he features prominently in this book. First of all, it's a Michael Connelly novel -- that about says it all. He has a crisp writing style with rich character development and a tight and complicated plot that keeps the reader engaged and guessing to the end. It is so entertaining to read how a legal case is handled, the many manipulations and tactics that have to be employed by both sides. In this novel, that is particularly seen since Haller (a defense attorney) is asked to prosecute this case. So you end up seeing both sides of the case. It also gives the reader a good idea of how cops investigate these cases in preparation for trial. This is a great plot. One that takes a big twist at the end. I highly recommend all Connelly books and especially the Harry Bosch series (though the Haller series is no slouch either). I recommend reading the series in order to get the most from the character development from one story to the next.

This has been one of the best books I have purchased. The photography is stunning, but more than that, the quotes and stories in this book are ideal for athletes preparing for competition and for life.As big as it is, this book is in my bedside table, and I have read it and re-read it several times. I bought one as a gift for my coach as well.I highly recommend it! Mark Allen really nailed it with this book.
